Food Sanitation
All restaurants, grocery stores, delicatessens, bakeries, taverns, clubs, and school cafeterias are inspected one to three times per year, based on their priority classifications. Permits are issued as appropriate. This program is designed to prevent food-borne diseases from being communicated through retail food establishments. Retail food establishments are issued operating permits upon demonstrating satisfactory sanitation practices.
Private Sewage Disposal
Permits are issued by the Health Department to construct or repair sewage systems in Wabash County. The purpose of this program is to prevent health hazards resulting from untreated sewage. All complaints regarding malfunctioning sewage systems are investigated by the Health Department.
Potable Water Supplies
Private water supplies are inspected for deficiencies and sampled at the owner's request. The samples are analyzed to determine the overall quality of the water supply. Permits are issued for the construction of all new wells.
