| Existing private water wells are sampled and inspected upon request of the owner. Samples collected are submitted to the Illinois Department of Public Health Laboratory for analysis. Consultations are provided are provided on power well disinfection and construction. Well permit applications are reviewed and permits are issued fore new well construction. New wells are inspected and are sampled. All non-community public water supplies are surveyed and sampled biannually. These supplies include wader vending machines, restaurants churches, etc. that are nor served by a municipal water supply. Consultation and approval for the sealing of abandoned wells are performed by the division. Public education on the hazard of abandoned wells is also conducted. For more information check out: |
