Every citizen, business, school, church, or other organization needs to prepare for disaster. Preparing and proper planning can lessen the adverse effects and their duration following an emergency. Planning takes time and coordination but is necessary to ensure that individuals, organizations, and communities can sustain themselves until disaster resources from outside the affected area can mobilize to render assistance in recovery efforts.

The Wabash County Health Department is an active participant with other local and state agencies in emergency planning to protect the public health in the event of a natural or human caused disaster or emergency.
