The WIC program offers nutrition
assessment, nutrition education, and supplemental foods to
pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, infants, and
children up to age five living in Wabash and Edwards Counties.
Eligibility requirements include income guidelines (185% poverty
level) or Illinois All Kids and a nutrition risk factor.
Evaluation for the program is free.

One of our Registered Nurses will
assist you in finding medical care for you and your family.
They can provide physical and developmental assessments for your
infant, and offer prenatal, breastfeeding, and parenting education
and support. This program is available to pregnant women,
infants, and some children living in Wabash and Edwards counties.
You or your child must be All Kids or Pediatric Primary Care
eligible.
ACIP recommended immunizations
(childhood – adult) are available at the Wabash County Health
Department on Tuesdays 8am – 4:30pm or by appointment.
There is a $10 administration fee for
most childhood immunizations. All Kids health insurance and
Pediatric Primary Care may be billed. Childhood
immunizations are not denied for inability to pay.
Adult immunizations are also
available for an additional fee. For more information
regarding immunization availability and cost please contact the
health department.

Capillary lead screening is available
on Tuesdays 8am – 4:30pm or by appointment. For persons
with family income at or below 300% of poverty fees will be
waived. For those greater than 300% of poverty, a $30 fee
will be charged. Payment must be made at time of screening.
Illinois All Kids may also be billed for payment.
TPS is an enhanced case management
program designed to assist pregnant and parenting teens to
completed high school or obtain their GED. Along with
prenatal and parenting education, teens are given assistance with
transportation, school fees, and referral and advocacy services.

Wabash County Health Department
provides vision and hearing screening by a certified audio-visual
technician to area children ages 3 – 18. Screenings are
done in daycare facilities or school settings. Screenings
may also be done at the health department by appointment only.
Wabash County Health Department Family
Planning Program provides contraceptive services to women of
childbearing age. Fees are based on income with a sliding fee for
services. All services are confidential with no residency or
income requirements. Services provided include Pap test, STD
(sexual transmitted diseases) screenings, breast exams, and
provision of contraceptive method. Free condoms are available on

Emergency Contraception pills (ECPs)
are hormonal pills that are taken to prevent pregnancy after
unprotected intercourse. ECPs are most effective when taken with
in 120 hours (5 days) of unprotected sex. The sooner ECPs are
taken, the better they work in preventing pregnancy. ECPs do not
protect against sexually transmitted diseases.
Wabash County Health Department Family
Planning Program provides Emergency Contraception Monday through
Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm. ECPs are provided through Wabash
General Hospital Emergency Room after Health Department hours, on
